––– FAQ ––––––––––––––––––

Who are you?

We are not a split off of another church.
We ARE a group of people who believe that God has called us to begin a new work in Henderson, which has a distinct mission. While there are many wonderful churches in the area that also share some of our distinctives in varying degrees, we have set out to establish a church with a new focus. Maybe it should be called a "refocus" or "a return to our roots". It is our belief that the protestant Church in American has become increasingly Man-centered in both her beliefs and in her practice. It is our passion to proclaim and live out the historic biblical truths of the Reformation. These truths have been summarized this way: The Scriptures alone, Grace alone, Christ alone, Faith alone, all to the Glory of God alone. Please join us in this wonderful opportunity that has eternal significance and endless joy.

Why Start a New Church?

The U.S. is the largest post-Christian nation on earth, the third largest unchurched nation, and leads the world in domestic crime and social decay. In the year 1900 there were 27 churches for every 10,000 Americans. By 1950, the ratio had dropped to 17 churches for every 10,000. In 1996 there were only 11 churches per 10,000. There is a need and the Henderson area is no exception. The 1998 statistics show that there are 174,255 people living within 15 miles of our location.
Doesn’t starting new churches cost a lot of money? Actually many churches today are in debt, but it is debt occurred for building projects and other "program" expenditures. Starting new churches (church planting) is one of the most economical methods for any church to "reach out". Planting healthy, reproducing churches with evangelistic passion is one of the best methodologies for reaching North America.
Won’t new churches hinder the growth of existing churches? Unfortunately this is a common objection to church planting especially in areas that have numerous churches. However this objection reflects the belief that church growth is a purely human effort and that by controlling the competition, existing churches will grow.
Church planting is a biblical command. In Acts 12, Barnabas left a small, struggling, persecuted church to go to begin a "new" work. Unfortunately, there will always be some churches that are struggling, but God has commanded us to plant churches. It is a challenging and exciting work that will cause you to see more clearly God’s faithfulness to His people!

What makes you Different?

We Proclaim the Bible as the Authoritative, Timeless, all-Sufficient Truth of God.
We are Passionate about God-Centered Worship.
We Have a Serious Desire to be Authentic before God and One Another.
We Unashamedly Proclaim the Sovereignty of God over all of Life.

How Can You Get Involved?

Visit us! Worship begins at 10:45 on Sunday mornings. Bible study starts at 9:30. We would love to meet you and the encouragement from your visit would be priceless.
Pray for us! If you are unable to visit, but you are excited about what God has called us to do, then we would love to have you pray for us. We know that our Glorious God has made the prayers of His people a mighty tool in accomplishing His will. Pray!
Share with others about us! Tell others, friends, family and neighbors about Covenant Baptist Church. Be especially mindful of those who have no church home or have mentioned their need for a small church home or those who seem discouraged in their current situation to the point of dropping out. We would love to have an opportunity to meet them and share our all-satisfying God with them!
